There are 1742 FIDE Grand Masters. That's about 0.000021775% of the population or one in 4.6 million persons. So don't worry about whether you are a grandmaster. Plenty of non-grandmasters are worthy friends. Just do the things you are interested in with people who are like-minded and eventually you'll find someone you have vibe with.
