How did you do it?
I have but most of that was spent in the tournament's entry fees, travel expenses, etc. So not really.
@sm2019 I am a patzer, but a way many titled playesr earn money is by playing in tournaments and simuls, coaching, and selling instructional material online.

@CreativeThinking Do you get a chance to enjoy the places you travel to for tournaments? I know we're not talking Monte Carlo, but do you get a chance to visit some places you had never been before, and do you have enough time to explore the city a bit?

So far, I have won a sum of 7500 INR (~100 USD) with my chess skills by participating in zonal level tournaments and online tournaments in all.
Also, besides money, I won scholarship where I would get free chess training of 10 hours by most qualified coaches. And I earned free participation in limited number of fee entry tournaments at a chess server as part of scholarship.

I’ve earned a little through tournaments but the expenses to participate in those tournaments heavily outweigh what I’ve earned
