That's because it's considered an invitation when you point your feet at someone
Greeting someone by shaking his hands is viewed as being polite. Greeting him by kicking him in the butt is viewed by many as being less polite.

I guess they could always shake feet as a gesture of respect, although this has never become popular for some reason. Yepp, kick his butt! Lol JK.
