Euroepan Super League: The Death of Football, or inevitable new model?

expecto , hii , problems of cl ? ive a few to mention
certain countries are only represented by one team , this means they heavily outweigh financially other teams in their national league , im thinking Cluj as a good example
paradoxically i do not think teams that havent won domestic honours should qualify for european competition , rewarded for finishing 4th still doesnt sit well but ironically id settle for 4th place this season so LFC get cl agaIN
i guess thats the problem about being a fan , logic isnt the only persuasive argument there is also passion
Ya....
But show me a reason why Chelsea can play in the super cup and, many other clubs can't..
I was with you until the end, @sabutuma - John Henry was one of the biggest pushers for the ESL. He bears more responsibility than most for getting it to this stage, and changing course when you have 80% of the fans, an entire government, and multiple sporting organizations threatening legal action doesn't give him a pass. It just exposes him that he's willing to sell out his players, fans, and the legacy of Liverpool just to make an extraordinarily rich man a bit richer.

Contemptible. Loathsome. Avaricious. Self-serving. All twelve boards deserve to be tarred and feathered, but Henry, the Glazers, Kroeneke, Perez, and Agnelli are the worst of the worst.

"Sorry, my bad!" isn't going to make things magically better and cause people to forget.
saved the club i love mate , i cant speak ill of a man that has done that , but you aint me and if your want to criticise him then as long as the criticism is fair(it isnt unfair) then yeah youve every right to say what you think
pheonix are you talking about the cup where the cl winner takes on the europa league winner or the world club cup where each footballing fed sends the seasons continental cup winner to face of v similar from other continents
if the answr is yes to either ,
they got there by merit
edit , i see from previous post you are talking about this super league malarkey ,
none of the teams in it have got their by merit , they just think its their right to get special treatment because they are "big" clubs
@Darkphoenix004 Money, of course. Arsenal are 9th in the PL, haven't played in the CL in years, embarrass themselves in the CL when they do playin recent years, have never won the Champions League and get an automatic spot in perpetuity because they have a big fan base.

There are plenty of other clubs that would be more deserving a spot, but of course the bigger issue is that no club deserves automatic entry. If you want to dance with the best, you should have to earn your spot in the first place.

These twelve clubs think they are bigger than the sport itself, and fortunately it looks like the train is starting to come off the tracks.
i can remember a season where the gunners reached the final blowing away every team on the pitch to get there from group phase onwards , the final ,,i think it was v barca , got ruined though by a sending off early in the game forcing arsenal to play defensively , barca won , but the gunners came really close by playing brilliant football from the fiirst group game to the final
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh the statto in me is getting really annoyed that i cant remember that cl year lol , i could look it up but thats cheating statto rules
I had to look it up, too. I remember the final, but didn't remember how Arsenal did to get there.

Impressive group stage with Ajax, Thun and Sparta Prague.
1-0 Aggregate win against Madrid
2-0 Aggregate win against Juve (0-0 draw 2nd leg)
1-0 Aggregate win against Villareal

Sure, they made the final but let's not oversell blowing away every team on the pitch.

There are plenty of teams with the history and recent performances that would deserve permanent spots more than a few permanent 'Super League' members, like Ajax and Porto (not to mention PSG, Bayern, and Dortmund).
