When I was in high school I had serious shoe-envy for the Adidas and Nike's my friends wore! They were kind of expensive for our family, though, so my siblings and I had other sneakers. As an adult, I've bought Saucony or New Balance running shoes, and they've been great!
My most recent sports shoes, however, are a pair of trail-running shoes made by Salomon. They were a splurge but they are amazing, water-resistant, and good for general running and some sports (especially outdoors), light hiking and foul weather, too! I don't usually even run on trails but I bought them because I needed a pair of shoes for a trip to Scotland. While there I accidentally stepped directly into a huge puddle, submerging almost my whole foot, and my foot stayed dry inside! Sometimes I still get tempted when I see a nice pair of Adidas but have resisted buying a pair so far.
For your project, MicrosoftChess, I would say "neither" if it's an option, but if not, I guess I would say "Adidas".
