The best way is to get those vaccination rates up! That's the only way to eradicate diseases.

Masks! Vaccination! Lockdown! Start doing these things, the government should make it clear how much of a risk they're in, time and time again. That's the only way to stop those people who think their somehow immortal to Covid-19. I personally don't live in the U.K, but I hope that somehow we overpower Covid, at least closer to success, as Corona may never disappear, we have to contain it. Scientists, keep helping. We should appreciate all the work doctors have put in, as well as many other jobs including scientists, and respect them by helping yourself!

I don't think covid will disappear soon, and I don't think having lockdown forever is a viable or desirable solution.

In my opinion what should be done is having high vaccination rates, and (re)-invest massively in public health in order to be able to deal with new waves without overwhelming the hospitals (which was, at the beginning of the pandemic, the key argument for lockdown).

At least in the country I am coming from, supposedly developped and among the top economies of the world, it's been years if not decades that public hospitals and especially emergency services are asking for more fundings because they are working understaffed and under a lot of pressure.
But instead successive governments have kept cutting expenses in the public sector to save some money.
And now here we are.
