why does my opponent have the option of accepting my resignation in a game??

Shouldn't a resignation be an immediate end to the game? When my oppenent declines my resignation I have to leave the game and then I get banned for a few minutes. That seems really stupid! I'm going to stay on chess.com until you get that fixed.

Resignation is immediate. Maybe you're offering a draw? Or maybe you have confirmation turned on (lichess.org/account/preferences/game-behavior)? Then you have to click the button twice.
