Turtle tournaments!!

Hello guys, the point of this post is to propose the addition of ome classical chess (20+10) tournaments to the schedule. I know that classical is not the most popular format avaible, but maybe something like a weekly 4-5 hour tournament would work. since I really enjoyed play the classical shield tournament, and there was lots of people I think this is not something crazy to propose..

I for one think this would be a great idea. Would convince at least me to play longer time controls online.

@Aryzk That is a great idea, I've been wanting the same thing. I also think that there should be U1500, U1700, U2000 classical tournaments.

There was the classical monthly shield tournament that proved to be quite popular with 2979 participants so there is definitely a demand for it I think.

I know right, it was a super popular tournament, why not have more of it. And about doing it U2000, U1700 and U1500, im not sure if it is neccesary because this tournament are not even that atractive for high rated players since they cant just rage berserk all the way to the top, they still will need to wait for the opponent to move... maybe U1500 since they are not able to compite with 2000 rated people most of time...

I agree there should be regular longer tournaments, however i don't like shield tournaments because they are 10h long. 15+5 or 20+0 that is 2 hrs long is much better

With 2979 participants the 20+10 Classical shield tournament was in fact the most popular of all shield tournaments:

1+0 • Bullet : 1610 participants
3+0 • Blitz: 2638 participants
5+0 • Blitz: 2661 participants
10+0 • Rapid: 2410 participants
½+0 • Bullet: 1252 participants
20+10 • Classical: 2979 participants

Also 15+5 or 20+5 would be a welcome tournament. But please something longer than 10+0.

Even if some people believe that slow chess is not the future, that is not enough for not having a slow chess arena. People will show what will be the future, not some hidden overlords.
