Strong players banned for cheating

I think you probably just have a skewed perspective. You may see a titled player getting banned, look at some games and see inconsistent move times but you don't even have close to all the data which the mods have. They have much more information than just move times. And you don't even know for which games exactly they got banned. You generally don't get banned just because you have a game where you play well or something and obviously Lichess is very aware that it can randomly happen that your game looks a bit suspicious. You shouldn't trust people too much just because they seem nice or because "they are a titled player, why would they even cheat?". Or maybe you "know them" and "trust me, they would never cheat, I asked them, pinky promise". It has been shown time and time again that those things don't actually matter. Just look at speedrunning and things like Dream with Minecraft, the cheating scandals in Track Mania, etc. Same goes in Chess. There have been more than enough cases of pretty good players who were found to be cheating with clear evidence. Certainly not every time, probably even just very occasionally, but that's not the standard we are going by. Reality is, you can't judge people on those external factors and everybody has the potential to cheat, no matter how unlikely it may seem to you.

Point is, if somebody got banned and it doesn't get reverted, they probably cheated and if you don't actually cheat, it's very unlikely that you will get banned. You shouldn't worry about your own games just because some people that got banned told you they weren't actually cheating.
