STOP help lagging players to win in ultrabullet.

Why lichess gives HUGE time advantage to players with bad connection (big time lag)???
Ultra bullet is NOT for that guys, who have big ping. Why honest player with good connection must suffer of those time laggers?

Lichess, make ping restriction to join to ultrabullet tourneys, for example set max ping to 150ms or something like that. Make for laggers additional tourney for all guys, who have 150ms+ ping.

STOPO this unfair practice!!!
lagging does not confer an advantage.

If *either* player lags, the game is different for *both* players. Both players get more time during ops turn to think and to enter a premove. I can see why you might not like this change of pace in an ultra tourney but rest assured that the lag comp is fair.
@isaacly You're missing a critical point here: the player who lags a lot is used to the lag. If you're not used to it, you might feel like your opponent is playing really slowly, but they might even be premoving and so not losing any time. I don't know any appropriate solution to this, just thought I'd mention it.
As far as I know, lag isn't constant but vary. I'm not an expert though, but that might be a problem if you set requirements on lag.
I guess the main problem with laggers is that they contradict the basic concept of Ultra. Normally you're supposed to be really fast with the clock often as the deciding factor. But against laggers its a different story. Moves are played with a significant delay, but get still counted as premoves/moves without timeloss. Basically you have to change your playing style, as its more or less impossible to flag such people in a lot of positions. The time to react is far too long then, meaning they can play like forever, no matter how hard you try to be fast.
So it just feels bad, to have to play a game more resembling Hyper, when you want to play Ultra. Probably not so easy to solve without punishing people with a weaker connection, but nevertheless it can be quite annoying.
As here was written, ultrabullet with laggers is not an ultrabullet anymore, it becomes 15 +1 (if lagger has ping 900ms).

So there is only one decision - make time control more on server side without considering lagger's ping. May be make some little compensation considering most common of normal ping (<100-150ms). This will couse big time loss for huge laggers and they will not play and spoil ultrabullet untill they fix their connection.

Laggers should play 1-2-3 min, or classical etc, but not ultra.
isaacly,
lagging is advantage. I'll tell you why.

When we play ultra, we calculate our strength and style of play for 15 seconds. BUT lagger plays not 15+0, he plays 15+1 (if ping 900ms). And this lagger knows his advantage and calculates his strength and style of play for 15 +1 and this will couse more looses for non-laggers, which chose wrong play stile for that guy. Even if you know, that this guy is lagger, you will play 15+0 by inertia, while he (lagger) during the whole tournament CONSTANTLY plays 15+1.

What will happen if you start play Hiperbulet or 1 minute bullet, using ultrabullet style? That's right you will loose.
so i think the soultion is to prevent participation of anyone with more than 150 ms ping. and during the tournament if he lags. the "return to tournament" button should be disabled until his ping reached the appropriate level.
