I don't think they would bring up their personal politics in a tournament, that being said, we shouldn't discount their right to replace their flag with a simple "Lichess flag".

Nice! Looks very good imho.

What does everyone else think? Don't be shy as a county vs. cuntry tournament just might be seeded from this flag idea.

I think that this feature could be the definative feature that gives no reason to play on chess.com. Because now that's the only thing I envy chess.com. I think this also could lead to more titled players wanting to play on lichess, as weird as it sound but i feel titled players would like this feature aswell.

Is there a way of finding out if this idea will be implemented in a olympiad style tournament? I'm sure many of us would enter and enjoy watching countries being represented, perhaps even on a trial basis.

This is true. If I see an English flag I will probably abort.

Kidding aside, I do think that players would welcome the country versus country style tournaments, even if it;s just on a trial basis. As the saying goes, "Build it, and they will come"

Perhaps personal drawbacks, but again, I don't think players would bring politics into chess games here on Lichess, again I speak from no experiance of playing in team sports other than online esports where politics was never an issue and I don't believe it would be so here, we must keep this flag idea floating...

The Lichess design looks just better without flags.
The colorful flags do not fit in the nice beautiful simple Lichess design.
When you are interested in flags you can still with the mouse hover over the Players name.
