Pleeeeeeeeeease Lichess! Notification nightmares.

I don't want to see notifications on the left hand side of every single activity my friends do. It really is annoying and spams out all the useful info. This is not Twitter or Facebook. I promise! So why do you seem to feel some kind of need to emulate those platforms? It gets so bad I find myself defriending people just to get some relief from it. And that's a shame because the point of features is to build up the community, not to tear it down.
And I know there are many others of you who feel this way. So everyone who agrees with me that there should AT LEAST BE AN OPTION to disable notifications of friends activity let your voices be heard here and now! If enough people speak out Lichess will have to respond.
I think you're referring to the timeline rather than to notifications (so these only display on the lobby page) although yes, I've unfollowed players who constantly generate content so I can't see events from other people.
I agree. Also, it's hard to navigate between pages here because there a "no friends online"box obscuring the page number. And that's with me having to zoom in on mobile because there's no way anyone's clicking on the numbers without zooming in.
@Toadofsky Ah yes the 'timeline". I had a feeling there was another term for it but I couldn't remember. Oh well I think people will know what I meant. And thanks for chiming in!

@Doofenshmirtz I agree. I don't know about mobile but on PC you can at least click on the top of that box to shrink it down to one line. Lol it bugged me a lot too until I figured that out.
@Assios I do appreciate your effort to help, but you seem to have misunderstood the point of this thread. We like the timeline when it provides some useful information. The problem is the useful information is spammed out by the less useful information about all of the activities of people we follow.
Is there a way using a tampermonkey script to filter out all the entries about, let's say our friend's name is john, "john posted in thread bla bla bla" "john followed bla bla bla" "john joined bla bla bla" "john farted bla bla bla" ?
@President_DonaldDuck I see. You asked for a way to disable "notifications of friends activity", so I assumed you wanted to disable the whole feed. But I agree that it would be better to show a curated feed instead of all friend activity.

Ironically, however, your proposed changes would make it more like Twitter and Facebook ;)
@Assios I'm glad that you agree. Let's hope more people keep adding their voice to it so that Lichess will listen. I've made posts about this in the past and I've never had a single person disagree as far as I can remember :P Not sure why Lichess thinks otherwise.

On your last point, with FB and Twitter when your friends make a post it can appear in your timeline. And more importantly, in my opinion you have little control over what appears in your timeline. So I'm actually quite curious about why you think that's not being like those sites to do that here.

Do you think it would be possible to write a tampermonkey script to disable the module in the lichess code where it adds in friends activity into the timeline?
