please rollback the rating range change!

@CarvedBoat

It is you who claim something without ability to show any data. The onus of proof is on you and I'm definitely not going to waste my time searching for something that might have never existed.

EDIT... and this game: lichess.org/cglTEFfVHS2e (played today!) might be enough to show that there is no technical limitation to play with a big rating difference, only matching was made more difficult.

If you say it was +/-400, maybe you confuse this site with chess.com/? There is exactly such a limit, indeed. Could it be the source of mistake?
@Otienimous : Thanks, I understand what you mean. Not sownplaying your point the least! "Still no help against some rage" was not aimed on the present argument about the recent modifications. As I said, I wish we could at least be informed about it. What I wanted to say is just that you can't evade complaints completely even if you have the best arguments.
@Sybotes Thank you for understanding. I'm convinced that you're right here, every change will dissatisfy someone. Nevertheless, this simple observation should never be used to defend objectively wrong changes which seem to dissatisfy nearly everyone. I think that you, as a patron, probably feel particularly upset that nobody cares about your opinion here.
+1. Please please take this back, for me this ruined the platform. Or at the very least a mod should come in one of these threads and explain why they think this change is necessary. What's the point of a feedback form if it's only users discussing there, it should always be a dialogue between users and admins.
I don't understand why you guys are rationalizing lichess's rating range feature change by trying to convince me that it will reduce sandbagging/boosting! That is such a joke. Chess.com is FUUULLLLLLLLLLLLL of sandbaggers (there are sooo many people that are above 2000 strength but sink their ratings down to 900 or so) it is a TOTAL JOKE

Secondly, I don't understand why you are trying to make me get used to this feature by saying "okay at first every change might seem awful but then people get used to it" when I literally told you how I prefer lichess over chess.com because of this one feature that I have more flexibility about what ratings to play!

ROLL BACK the rating range feature! PLEASE! .,.
I do not see how this can be seen as an improvement. It does not make possible anything that was not possible before, but it severely reduces the choice of members. I may prefer to play players with a lower rating than me, or to play players with a higher rating than me. Even if others do not feel the same way, why would they want to impose their own choices about their opponents on me? This change means that I am forced to choose opponents different to the ones I have chosen up until yesterday, and for me personally this has destroyed my enjoyment of playing here, so I will play elsewhere. Is that what the change was meant to achieve? I am asking politely, what is wrong with the choices I used to make before the ability to do so was removed from me? Is Lichess a better or worse place for driving away regular players like me and many others who have voiced similar sentiments?
This update is not an update i would agree with. Why are we getting restrictions for the work of other players who dont know how to play chess and start sandbagging. This update just helps them as they can just put -500 and +0, making sure they dont play with anyone higher rated than them. They wont be able to do this on the board so what is the use of this update? Pls make it back to normal.
Just saying if you play at minus 500 and lose you will lose a lot of rating points. If you only play at your rating level you only lose a few points. So this change encourages those who only want to play at their own level and maybe the change was made in a misguided way to avoid sandbagging. But that doesn't make sense when you can simply put the slider to minus 500 and keep the other one at zero. In this case you would only be playing those way below your rating with no incentive to play at your own level. If they really wanted to avoid sandbagging they could have allowed only setting your level higher and never below your rating to prevent farming out lower rated players.
