number of players not being displayed

Dashes are being displayed instead of the number of players who are online: ibb.co/d65SSS

(This may or may not be related to the ongoing "network error" problems: lichess.org/forum/lichess-feedback/network-error-bug.)

This is working again now, but the display of dashes is visible briefly before the number is loaded.
