It is practically impossible to take notes about a match in the lichess using the feature that appears next to the chat. There is some kind of bug. When you start typing the letters disappear and others appear that should not. I use android system and even after I changed my smartphone the problem continued.
It works for me. I using the website lichess.org with the latest Firefox (68.5b4) for Android (7.1.2).

Works fine for me on Android 9.1 (well, the silly emui version on an Honor Play) and the latest Firefox, and also with the latest Lichess app. Can read/write successfully between those two versions and the website on a chromebook. So perhaps it's your browser or keyboard? Maybe show a screenshot of the letters which shouldn't appear?
