I had a position occur 3 times, claimed draw but nothing happened. How is this according to the chess rules?
This is the game:
lichess.org/Vgdp6Dtd2bXUJust a guess: Assuming you claimed on 11... Bd6 it might have been too late, because white had premoved 12. Nf3. The safe way would be to make your claim before the move and then play 11... Bd6.
Did the site inform you that it is a 3-fold repetition and offer to claim a draw or did you claim it by yourself?
Maybe on lichess the 3-fold repetition rule doesn't apply before a certain amount of moves.
No the site didn't inform me. I claimed it myself.
White moved too fast and you did not have time to click on the claim draw button that would have appeared. In your settings, you can enable an option to automatically claim a draw by threefold repetition whenever it comes up.
@Chessty_McBiggins , I went to settings, but it looks like it is already enabled.
Weird, I'm not in a position to guess what the problem is then. :)
I still don't see a problem; maybe the user preference only applies to claims caused by the player repeating a position (12. Nc4) and not to claims caused by the opponent repeating a position (11... Bd6).
