Inviting a person to study does not work.
I created a study and invited about twenty people. And I can not invite people anymore. I click on the invite button, a list of people who are online right now appears and can be invited. Then I click on one of the people and nothing happens. A person is not invited, but everything worked well before. I clicked and the person was invited to study and disappeared from the list.
Why can not I invite people? What happened?

You invited a ton of people and got rate limited. Wait 24h, and invite fewer player - only those who actively want to be part of the study.

Hello dear thibault! We are a big group of fans on Lichess (more then 40 as mentioned). The option to be connected on studying all together at a time would help us a lot. Would you please help us in inviting more people to study please? Thank you very much for your assistance.
Just send them the study URL. You don't need 40 contributors.
If they follow you, they will see that you created a study, then you don't even need to send the URL.

Your intention might not be to spam. But there is no way to separate between that and a spammer.
If you are a group of friend you could make a lichess team or a group on facebook or whatever and share the URL there.

Do not offer to use facebook. Not everyone has a facebook and not everyone likes it. People want to be able to invite each other on this site using this site. Why do we need facebook?
If we create a chess team, it does not help us to invite each other. The chess team does not allow sending an invitation to its members.
You can't distinguish between spam and many messages that are sent with consent.
Then use something else. Emails, text messages, twitter. There are countless options.
Chess teams have a forum where you can post links.
