How is the time compensation still a thing?

My suggestion is have bullet games without time compensation, or showing the time compensation, or only matching players with similar lag.

I easily go up 100+ points whenever I use the time lag, and I would say when I play without time lag 80-90% of the times I lose is because the player I am against has a bad connection and gets twice the time I do.

It is just frustrating because it is such an advantage to lag your connection by 1 second.

Fair enough. I get that it is my choice to play. I just thought lichess would want to improve. This is a feedback forum.
the lag has been tough lately. Probably just a lot of extra people online tho.

Likely will even out I'd imagine ツツツ
@Swedlock i get your point but the problem is, if you turn off time compensation, so many people wouldn't be able to play fast games. I think it's still a good thing, but eventaully we'll need to find an alternative solution.
I don't normally play bullet, sometimes I feel like it.

I'm totally fine with time compensation, how about either:

-Match people up with similar time lag (maybe not possible)

-Make it noticeable when the other player is getting time back

-Allow me to just abort games when someone has a slow connection without timing me out.

The easy way to fix it is to slow my connection so I also receive the 1 sec time comp, but this feels like cheating. I usually only play bullet so I don't have to think much and can just move pieces around. No big deal, just frustrated when I feel someone is moving extremely slow against me and then I look up and see I am down 10 seconds. Im not very good at chess so I prefer at least 3/0 chess.

I can just play a different site too, I just like the way the pieces move on lichess.
