Some ideas / feedback.

Creating a "timer" in public lobbys;
So that if you join a lobby and the user is afk, you dont have to endlessly wait for the user to respond, if they are afk for X amount of time then allow the joining user to "exit" the session without repercussion (possibly also including a visual Que so the users understand that they can safely leave)
Possibly punish people who frequently make games and AFK for a certain amount of time.

Ability to "rematch as" a specific color. In case you are playing with someone and prefer to remain a specific color. (this is another system which would do away with users canceling games frequently)

"strategic slides" in study's
Thus not requiring a move to be made for a new "slide" to be created. a "slide" being similar to what we are provided when a move is made -> a clickable area which brings up the given slide.
These slides would make for the ability to have notations and arrows + colored circles explaining a specific aspect. Then being able to create a totally new slide where you can include completely different arrows / annotations. This would make for better study's.

#1 How would your first suggestion work? Are people in the lobby supposed to be clicking or something to show that they are active? What about Android and iPhone users?

The "rematch as" suggestion has been floated before; I think having two "rematch" buttons could be complex (in terms of ensuring it works on all browsers) and confusing.

What's a slide?
It appears as though my response was not posted;

Regarding the timer there should be a set amount of time one is expected to wait upon joining a random lobby and the other user being afk.

Keeping in mind that there could be "conversation" or other circumstances going on - The main take away is that If I the user joins a random game and the person i am up against is not there. i should not have to sit there indefinitely OR potentially take a "time out" for leaving too many games. There has to be a middle ground;

A slide in a study would be similar to what you receieve when a move is made; All circles and lines from the previous move, go away and you are provided with a "clear chess board" to work with and the ability to "add a comment" to this new "move" or "slide" . i have added you to a few studys to help with examples.

Regards,
From the #lichess IRC I confirmed that developers' opinions currently are:
* most users would probably not use such an advanced feature
* slides would be complicated to build into the UI
