CALLING ALL PATRONS: If you are a Patron, can you disable the orange DONATE ad?

Do you mean the orange link at the top of the home page or the one toward the bottom next to the merchandise link?

Thank you, that means there are 2 ways to get rid of the orange nag text.

1) Pay monthly for Lichess Patron
2) Use browser extension or blocker
I'd be surprised if any adblocker could do something to hide it since it's not an ad, it's part of the website.

Browser extension adblockers can easily hide it because they can manipulate webpage elements. You are thinking of DNS based blockers?

For example, this is with AdGuard extension on Mac: you can select elements and hide them. uBlock Origin etc can do the same.

And as a result............ it's like I'm a Patron! No advertisement in-app purchase unlocked for free!

You can also create a userstyle to hide it with a oneliner:

.site-title-nav__donate { display: none }

And THIS is why we love lichess! Thank you thibault for being an absolute legend!! (I will still keep the donate button because it is not at all annoying and I feel bad hiding it, though)

Thanks! Optimistic that this aggressive ad campaign pays off and Lichess can grow as a company to compete with Chesscom, especially after the PMG acquisition. Competition is good!

LOL "aggressive ad campaign", it's not even an ad...literally just a button to help support a site which is providing an amazing service for FREE!
