I'll throw in my two cents from a lichess vs chess.com perspective. I've watched chess.com struggle mightily to create a site that is signifiicantly worse than lichess despite being for profit, thus having a huge monetary advantage over lichess. The developers here are so far above the level of chess.com. I have no doubt that if chess.com can do bughouse, lichess can do it better.
The only aspects of chess.com that aren't complete shit compared to lichess are bughouse and puzzle rush. I would love to see bughouse added, not just because I like the game, but because I don't want myself or others to have to use inferior websites for it.

Change comes with a certain risk... Like v2 of lichess. And the devs can handle only so much risk. Let's see if they can take the risk with bughouse. Would be great if they could but maybe they have their own plans.
