appear to be at odds. Unless you're suggesting that "stands with" doesn't mean "support", and/or that Lichess supports their protests but not the group themselves.

I'll define "support" as "assist": www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/support

I think what Lichess was trying to do was raise awareness about police brutality, without itself giving money to organizations which have "BLM" or similar in their name (which it may or may not be permitted to do) since organizations themselves may have problems.
