Speak to Lichess 2.0: now with full voice control!

Hi all! After completely botching that post yesterday, let's see if I can get it right this time 😭

Speak to Lichess is a free open source Google Chrome extension that provides voice control for games played on Lichess.org.

As of 2.0, you can now play chess completely hands free: no additional keyboard or mouse input required once you start a game. This feature uses the Lichess Board API and requires UCI format moves. It is available in rapid, classical, and correspondence time controls.*

Still having trouble adding many links in this post, so here's the reddit post with all the relevant links to download, how to use, etc. Hopefully this post goes through!

Thanks everyone
This is so awesome,
i just check the video and maybe i did not understand it, but its possible to change some words to speak them in spanish? like (rook c1 - torre c1)

and I think in the video you used some words to mention a specific letter, is it possible to change it to just one letter? (u say "rook eco1 " instead of "rook e1"
@Tryoesk yes, so using words to specify a letter is much more consistent with the Speech API. It's generally very bad at recognizing individual letters. Check out the spreadsheet from the reddit post for suggestions.

The Web Speech API does recognize different languages, from what I could tell. You could actually use the word replacement feature to use piece names in different languages. For your example, in the popup menu, tell the extension that anytime it hears "Torre" to interpret it as "rook" instead.

Your results may vary. I'd love to hear how it goes if you do try it!
Cool!
Is there a feature that reads the moves for you? These two coupled together would be perfect for blindfold.
@M-Mohebi Lichess actually already has this feature! Just tap your name in the top right -> sound -> speech (all the way at the bottom). It's not available on all browsers though, from what I remember.
:o never thought a non-mod/non-lichess coder would make smth so great for Lichess! I personally wont use it but i can see how this would be extremely useful for others. Thanks :D
