For those who played competitive chess at young age...

For those who played competitive chess at young age, how did you do in school?

I meant for the ones who's rating was above 1500 at the age of between 8~15.

Well. I think most strong chess juniors are academically strong all round, the skills that make one good at chess are highly transferable.
I played competition from age 10 to about age 17.That was way back in the late 1950's-early '60's..so internet ratings were not born yet :).
I was a very high achiever academically.
Are you doing a survey,or maybe searching for a doctorate thesis?
Started chess in a club with 13 years old. After 3 years I had round about 1900 Fide Elo compared to my national rating. Then I "discovered" chicks, drinks and some drugs, everything went downhill at this point.
@Hausierer
haha...like reading my own biography.(Apart from the drugs..that stuff was not common back then.)
@bunyip oh no. my son and I had been playing for about a year now and getting over 1500 in USCF is very high mountain to climb. (We are both around 900) and there are many many kids who are above 1500. To reach that level, I believe lots and lots of work had been put into it and just wonder if it relates to school in terms of academics.
I'd say that you can safely generalise that there is a correlation between an academic leaning and playing chess.More like academically inclined people would tend to continue playing over their lifetime.
@taigerboy
My first rating when I was about 7 was ~ USCF 1500 (or equivalent in what were then BCF grades). I had been playing for a couple of years by then and was going to a junior chess club. I think this rating level is obtained by seeing all 1-move tactics - don't blunder pieces and spot your opponents blunders - and then a fraction of 2-move tactics.

I am not sure this is as much a matter of work (compared to eg opening/endgame theory) as spatial visualisation / talent.
However, whatever the initial natural talent I think something which brings juniors on more quickly to this level is playing other juniors who will rejoice without restraint at taking undefended pieces - kids are naturally competitive, and playing other similar kids really teaches them to be careful, which is IMO the main component to reaching this level.
There was never any "ratings" before FIDE was created.All registered tournaments were round-robin.
I am aged 74...i have been there..done that.
My Lichess rating is only like 1500 right now, but I’ve decided to play more competitively since late April. In school I’m rather advanced, being 5 years ahead in Mathematics and Science and 2 years in the rest by age. I know someone at my advanced school that is close to achieving National Master level; he’s similarly advanced. Although he has been playing chess for a considerable amount of time.
