Bullet chess addiction

Is being addicted to bullet chess a thing? Specially rated games...

I find myself playing for up to 4 hours sometimes. The rush is too great to let go. Something along the lines like running 100 meters in track. I have gone a straight 700 games with only pauses for eating and bathroom. My longest is 36 hours on Lichess.

Does anybody else have a similar situation?
This is a new account, dude. Think about that, dude. Jesus man.
I used to play mostly rapid and some classical with a previous account and then I went down the rabbit hole... started playing blitz and then bullet...Got addicted to bullet... nothing but bullet for two months. Recently I've started a new Lichess account ( a clean slate ) and I am now commited to playing nothing but rapid and classical...I used to be a 1700 player, but after all that bullet it's like I'm starting from scratch; I'll play a 10-8 rapid game and after 40 moves I've still got 10 minutes on the clock...I'm getting my ass kicked by 1200 and 1300 noobs. For now I'm just playing casual until I get back into the right frame of mind for longer time controls. Moral of the story: Bullet chess can have a negative effect on overall chess performance if it's not done in moderation.
I play bullet sometimes, though it doesn't decrease my level of skill in any way.
One morning I can play an hour of bullet, and then in the afternoon I play a 5 hour otb game.
I think the level of adaption to the respective time control depends on the person playing.
Your chess skill doesn't decrease. I play thousands of bullet games every week. If anything, it slightly improves your skill because you are seeing so many positions and lines. However it doesn't compare to studies, long games and real homework if you want to improve.

I highly agree with the OP, it can be extremely addictive. I have a very addictive personality with smoking, gambling and things that can't be mentioned here. And Bullet chess is no different. I guess it's something to do with the adrenaline rush, the endorphins and serotonin that's set off in the brain when you win?...

At the end of the it's just a beautiful distraction of life.
There are much worse ways of wasting your time.
Yes bullet is adicting, but wish I had the energy to play 36 hours through, that's insane level of endurance! I'll be giving away pieces and tactics at the beginning of the third hour.
Yeah I think so... I'm definitely addicted to ultra bullet. :) ... it's great fun.
