Books on Evaluating Positions

All

I’m looking for books that will help be better evaluate positions, primarily middlegame. I’m looking to develop a process I can utilize during a game to develop or modify a plan. I’m rated around 1700. Thanks so much.

i don't know if there is a designated book on how to evaluate the position (i'm sure there is but i don't know it)
but a good understanding of the principles should also give you the ability to better judge a position
so maybe chess fundamentals by capablanca or my system from nimzovich

note that those books are available as free pdf's all over the internet as the copyright expired
could be hard to find one with modern notation tho

also
yasser seirawan has some interesting video lectures on the chessbrah channel that might help you

there are even more from him on the chessbrah but also the St.Luis CCSC channel if you are interessted in those
Being able to evaulate a position isn't something you can learn, you can either do it or you can't. It's like with fighting, you either have that nastiness that you need or you don't, you can't learn it and you can't just switch it on.
The closest you can do is put a position into an engine and and try to remember how much that position is winning or losing.
Jacob Aagard in his serie dedicated to gm preparation has a book on positional game. For sure very helpfull for a clear understanding of positions. I suggest to buy this volume, the one dedicated to strategic play and the last one “thinking into the box”

Silmans 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙨 covers this topic, assessing positions and Imbalances for planning.
Thanks to everyone who has responded so far. Greatly appreciated.
@Paws4thought Silman knows his stuff, don't get me wrong. But when he's writing he's the kind of guy who who will prevaricate around the bush to tell you that the particles in the air causes sunlight to disperse in such a way that blue is the most visible colour, when all he needs to say is "the sky is blue".
@TGBM agree with your comment, although there is some really good info there if you are prepared/patient enough to delve through the text. Yes I have a copy.

It was recommended to me by my chess clubs strongest player, who swears by it.

Always good to try and borrow chess books to get an insight if they are suitable !
@TGBM
you absolutely can learn to evaluate a position
every position consists of strategic, dynamic and tactical elements
the better you are at each the better you can evaluate the position

and every chess player can evaluate by the most basic of principles: material count
@jesgluckner You can learn what to look for, but that means jack if you don't have that natural knack for it.
