Eat Like A Champion – Nutrition In Chess

Great article, food for thought. Much of this advice is good for diabetic players as well I think. (I fall into that category.)
Thanks for the advice Noel. I have been studying diet and nutrition for a while. I've always enjoyed eating bananas ( I always make sure that I buy the freshest ones with some green left by the stems.) and I a starting to eat nuts and protein shakes now.

As for protein bars, I am a bit skeptical about them as some can taste really sugary and some are really chewy and can really pull your teeth.

I'm British , so obviously, I love tea, but I try to have a herbal tea every night before I go to bed, and I really enjoy the taste of dark chocolate now. Good to know that's also a health option.
Observing the extensive discussion about sugar and fruits, i have to step in and provide an important distinction.

Fruits vs dried fruits are very different in the sugar spikes. Dried fruits are so much worse that i go so far as to never eat dried fruits. Here in Greece we produce a lot of dried fruits, raisins, dried figs and a lot more. I absolutely never eat them. Heating sugary foods, like tomatoes for example to produce totato sauce, increases the sugar content quite significantly.

Fresh fruits however i eat a lot. Fresh bananas, grapes etc.

As a side note, i eat almost everyday for 7 or 8 years, the bark of the pine tree. It is bitter, but it doesn't spike insulin at all, it actually decreases it. Carotenium which is found in ample quantities in the bark of the red pine tree, it is proven that it improves eye sight as well.

Also plant fibers are not all created equal. I think that pine bark fibers, are a lot better than any other fiber normal foods have. They are very tough but they can be blended in a good blender.
