About me

I am Vedant Pimpalkhare from Maharashtra, India. Founder of Themindfulmoves Chess Academy. I'm a Candidate Master and a Fide Instructor. My current Rating is 2243 and peak rating was 2287. I’m looking to help passionate chess players reach their goals.

Playing experience

I have been playing chess for the last 15 years, and I have played many tournaments in India and abroad. I have also played some prestigious tournaments in Spain, France, Germany, Serbia, etc.
Here are some of my achievements:
Commonwealth U-19 4th Rank
SGFI nationals Silver Medal
West Zone champion twice.
Captained my University Team to win gold medal at West Zone.
IM norm in Silver lake tournament 2019. (Serbia)
IM norm in Sants Open 2022 (Spain)

Teaching experience

I'm working as a coach for the last 7 years. I have managed to achieve excellent results with my students.
In order to help my students in the best possible way, I attained the title of Fide Instructor which is given for coaches by the FIDE association.
I have dedicated myself to coaching individuals as well as group sessions. I feel that it's important to understand the requirements of a player and then design a work plan for that specific individual.
I also have experience of conducting multiple camps for rated players.

Other experiences

Other than playing and coaching, I do write chess blogs for my own website "www.themindfulmoves.in"
I have have interviewed multiple IM's and GM's for 64squaretales.

Best skills

I feel I'm well-rounded in teaching most areas of the game but the things that I bank on are as follows:
Positional Understanding
Opening preparation from either colour.
Working on Psychological aspects.

I believe in forming long term friendly relations with my students and help them to achieve their goals in chess.

Teaching methodology

In my lessons, I first try to understand where a player is strong and where they can improve by going through few of their games. Then, I create a plan with exercises that are tailored to their needs, so they can grow step by step. I feel analyzing your own games with a coach is by far one of the best ways to learn and improve. I also focus on building a strong mindset and working on psychological aspects of the game.

And if you’re a complete beginner, don’t worry — I’ll start by teaching you the rules of the game. From there, we’ll follow a enjoyable path to help you learn and improve your game with confidence.
