FM Enrico Ghersinich

I am a 24 years old Fide Master from Croatia, a country with a very rich chess tradition. My grandpa showed me the game of chess at the age of 6 and I fell in love with it ever since. I'm currently a student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Rijeka and I always try to make some room for the things I love, especially chess of course. Over the years, that passion has grown into coaching, and I truly enjoy sharing the magic of the game with my students :)

I've played a lot of open/rapid/blitz tournaments in Croatia. I also played many times at the national junior championships often finishing at the top spots.
Some of the results I achieved over the years are:
🏆National Junior Team Champion in 2020 and 2021
🏅2nd place at the national Junior Individual Champinship in 2018
🏆National University champion in 2021 and 2024
I also played at the 2012 World Youth Chess Championship in Maribor and at the Europen Youth CC in Bratislava in 2019.
So far, I won against a couple GMs and IMs at over-the-board classical tournaments, but I'm sure that more wins are yet to come :)
Eventually I crossed the 2300 fide rating mark and became Fide Master in 2020. Those are just small milestones that motivate me to keep striving, learning, and reaching for even greater successes.

📚With over six years of coaching experience, both online and in person, I’ve had the privilege of working with more than 30 students from around the world. My students have ranged from beginners discovering the game to ambitious competitors striving success.
✨What I value most is seeing my students grow , not only in rating and results, but also in their confidence, creativity, and love for chess :) While I’ve worked with students of all ages, from 6 to 60 years of age, my greatest experience has been with children helping them achieve impressive rating gains while fostering a genuine joy for the game.
🏆Several of my students have achieved remarkable results, with some of them also becoming national champions in their age categories respectively.

My coaching philosophy is centered on helping each student discover a style of play that reflects their personality and strengths, ultimately shaping them into a well-rounded chess player. Rather than overwhelming you with memorization and endless variations, I emphasize the understanding of the game: the ideas, plans, and principles behind the moves.
During lessons, I combine the communication features of Microsoft Teams/Zoom with the training tools on lichess: including studies, opening repertoires, and engine-assisted analysis. This approach ensures every session is both engaging and practical.
Above all, I want my students to experience the same joy and magical world within the 64 squares that first drew me to chess. My role is to guide you on this journey, whether your goal is competitive success or simply deepening your appreciation of the game.
