About me

My name is Tigran Petrosyan. I am 26, I am from Armenia currently living in Czech Republic. I am an International Master, I have 2 GM norms. Chess is a part of my life.

Playing experience

I play chess almost 20 years. Had various experience and successes, from being national champion of Armenia U16 and U 18, to World Youth Olympic champion U16. Recently I stopped playing professionally and more focusing on teaching chess and programming.

Teaching experience

I have 3+ years experience of teaching chess. Among my students there were many talented chess players from different countries in the world. I also have thousands of students on Udemy, where I have few courses.
Many of my students had successes in national championships, taking first prizes.

Best skills

I teach all the concepts of chess equally. All the parts of chess game are important. The opening is important, because chess player needs to get a solid position after it. Middle game is important, because chess player needs to know what plan to choose and is it correct or not.
And Endgame, my favorite part. Endgames are super important. There are various types of endgames: pawn endgames, rook endgames, queen endgames etc.
The 12th world champion Anatoli Karpov once said: "It is a good idea to start learning chess from endgames". I pay special attention on endgames.

Teaching methodology

I analyze openings very deeply and explain them to my students. For me it is important that my students don't just memorize all the variations, but they really do understand what is happening on the board.
From the middlegame section I try to represent every possible scenario from real games(Isolated pawn, hanging pawns, castle on different sides, bad piece, positional game ... etc).
And few words about endgames. I usually start with pawn endgames. There are many positions that every chess player must know. The second step is rook endgames.
Rook endgames are also important. And here there are no only positions to know, but in order to play rook endgames like a pro. there is a Technic. And after these two big topics, there are minor things like queen endgames, bishop endgames, knight endgames etc.
