GM Ognjen Cvitan

I've been a chess Grandmaster since 1987. I’m an active player, but since 2000 I’ve been mostly occupied with coaching. My enthusiasm for chess is still the same at 60 as it was at 16. I prefer for my students to have at least around 1800 elo.

Ich bin seit 1987 Schachgroßmeister. Ich bin ein aktiver Spieler, aber seit 2000 beschäftige ich mich hauptsächlich mit dem Unterrichten. Meine Begeisterung für Schach ist mit 60 immer noch die gleiche wie mit 16. Ich bevorzuge, dass meine Schüler mindestens ca 1800 Elo haben.

I became the Junior World Champion in 1981 after winning the Yugoslavian Junior Championship in 1980. I won the Croatian Championship in 1992 and made my way to the top 80 in the world in 1994. I won the gold medal on the 4th board in the Chess Olympiad in 1990. In my career, I also won a lot of open tournaments.

Ich wurde im Jahr 1981 Juniorenweltmeister, nachdem ich im 1980 die jugoslawische Juniorenmeisterschaft gewonnen hatte. Im Jahr 1992 habe ich die kroatische Meisterschaft gewonnen und schaffte es im Jahr 1994 in die Top 80 der Welt. Ich habe die Goldmedaille am 4. Brett im Schach Olympiade 1990 gewonnen. In meiner Karriere habe ich auch viele offene Turniere gewonnen.

I worked with such players as: GMs Ivan Saric, Ante Saric, Sasa Martinovic, Marin Bosiocic, Ante Brkic and WGMs Natasa Bojkovic, Valentina Golubenko and Lara Stock. I was also the coach of the Swiss team in two chess Olympiads: Istanbul 2012 and Tromso 2014. These days I work mostly with young talented players in my chess club in Rijeka.

Ich habe mit Spielern wie den GMs Ivan Saric, Ante Saric, Sasa Martinovic, Marin Bosiocic, Ante Brkic und den WGMs Natasa Bojkovic, Valentina Golubenko und Lara Stock gearbeitet. Ich war auch Trainer der Schweizer Mannschaft bei zwei Schacholympiaden: Istanbul 2012 und Tromso 2014. Heutzutage arbeite ich hauptsächlich mit jungen talentierten Spielern in meinem Schachclub in Rijeka.
