Hello Chess Friends!
My name is Jan Boder, I’m 20 years old, and I come from beautiful Rhineland-Palatinate. I’ve been fascinated by chess since my childhood, and this passion remains with me to this day. Besides chess, unicycling is also an important part of my life in 2022, I even won the world championship title over 10 km!
I am currently studying to become a teacher and spend every free minute on chess. My dream is to one day make a living from chess, sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm with others.
As a chess coach, I want to help you take your skills to the next level. Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn the basics or an advanced player aiming to refine your strategy, I look forward to accompanying you on your chess journey!
About me
Playing experience
In the spring of 2022, I was able to increase my ELO rating above 2300 and earned the FIDE Master title. This achievement crowns my previous successes, which include multiple participations in the German Championships at both youth and adult levels. Additionally, two years ago, I won the title of Rhineland-Palatinate Champion, and this year, I achieved the Vice-Champion title in Rhineland-Palatinate.
My next major goal is to reach the title of International Master—a milestone I am determinedly working towards.

Teaching experience
For over five years, I have been providing private chess training, and in the last two years, I have also taken on coaching roles in several chess clubs. In this time, I have worked with a wide variety of chess players, from young aspiring talents to experienced players looking to further develop their skills.
Other experiences
Three years ago, I started regularly streaming on Twitch and uploading YouTube videos under the name "Meister Jabo." On these platforms, I share my passion for chess and provide content for players of all skill levels. From exciting live games and tournament analyses to instructive tutorials, my streams and videos offer both entertainment and valuable learning resources.
Best skills
My strength lies in analyzing and understanding complex, dynamic positions that require creativity and flexibility. I feel particularly comfortable when it comes to maintaining an overview in unclear situations and making the best strategic decisions.
In addition, I have a deep understanding of positional play, which emphasizes the harmonious development of pieces and long-term planning. This balance between dynamic and positional chess is also reflected in my teaching: I help my students strengthen their skills in both areas to develop a well-rounded and versatile understanding of the game.

Teaching methodology
My training covers all phases of a chess game: opening, middlegame, and endgame. We begin with calculating variations, followed by analyzing imbalances, and conclude with fundamental endgame techniques. I place special emphasis on planning and variation calculation, teaching simple, proven methods.
The training is always tailored to the skill level and specific needs of my students, with a focus on improving weaknesses and deepening their understanding of the game.
