GM David Berczes

I am 33, from Hungary and became a GM at the age of 18. I love playing and teaching chess, I aim to convey all the knowledge I have acquired during my 15 Grandmaster years to potential students.

I have played several strong international open tournaments such as Millionaire Open, Rilton Cup, Cappelle la Grande. As for team events: Mitropa Cup, World Youth Olympiad (3rd place is best), Under 18 European Championships ( we won it once) and European Club Cup ( I won gold medal on my board).

Best individual result: beating Le Quang Liem, rating 2700+ in Millionaire Open in Las Vegas

I have been teaching for several years, have had always only a few students at a time so I could focus on them better.
My first experience was in USA with a rating of then 1400 and reached 2200+ with a few GM scalps.

I have also seconded a few fellow Grandmasters with my creative ideas as a preparation for their upcoming tournaments.

I have a few commentaries in the USA during the tournaments organized by my university, UT Dallas.

My main strength is planning/strategy-making that helps transition from the opening stage to the middlegame. I have been teaching for many years now and have realized what it takes to provide the most to my students. My main goal now is to convey all the knowledge I acquired throughout my career. I am happy to help you improve!
