The FIDE World Cup 2023 (Open Section) is a 206-player Single Elimination tournament held in Baku, Azerbaijan from July 29th to August 24th.

The Time Control is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1.

Tiebreak rules: two 25'+10" rapid games followed by two 10'+10" rapid and two 5'+3" blitz. Then there will be no armageddon, but 3'+2" until the tie ends.
