The Dutch Championship 2022 is a 16-player knockout tournament held from the 21st of December to the 30th in Groningen, Netherlands.

Each round consists of a 2-game match. Time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment beginning from move one.

Should a match end in a tie, a 2-game playoff match shall be played. Time control shortens to 25 minutes with 10-second increment starting move one. If players are still tied, another 2-game playoff match shall be played; this time with 10 minutes with a 10-second increment. If still tied, a sudden death game shall be played with time control of 4vs5 minutes with a 2-second increment starting move one. The first decisive game ends the match immediately.
