How to quickly reach a draw?

ChessEndgame
Nobody always has a good day, so it is quite normal to have very good games one day and to make hundreds of blunders another time. This is a fact, but we can learn from our mistakes. So how can we deal with lost positions in order to reach a draw?

A draw against a higher-rated opponent can be very satisfying and make you feel like a winner. But often, it is not that easy to keep going until the endgame because you blunder a knight in the opening/middlegame or don't see an attack coming up so that your opponent gets a clear advantage. But even against better opponents, I advise you not to give up immediately since they might still make a mistake themselves so that the position becomes (more) equal again or, even better, you get an advantage. And you can make the most from such situations by identifying possibilities to get a draw!

Same thing when a game is very equal all the time - same pawn structure, same material on the board, symmetrical position, no unexpected attacks... - and becomes boring after a few moves. By keeping in mind some possibilities that allow you to reach a draw, you can turn the loss into a draw - and the game into a game you won't forget so fast!

This is why I created the study that I linked here. I hope you can learn something and find it interesting. Enjoy it and have a nice week!
