What if I told you that you could trap your opponent in just the first few moves of the game? Interested? Well, then you have just come to the right place. This blog covers 6 opening traps that could help you win all your games!Trap in Tennison Gambit
This trap starts in The Scandinavian Defense, but after d5 we play Nf3, sacrificing the pawn. Then Ng5 attacking the pawn, Nf6 defends it. We play d3 enticing black to take another pawn. After exd3, we play bxd3. If black plays h6 trying to attack our knight then he is gone! First we play Nxf7, forking the Rook and Queen so, the King has to take and then we play the killer move Bg6+. The king has to take and Qxd8 is a free Queen!
Trap in Italian Game
This trap is very famous and starts in the Italian Game. After Bc4, if black plays d6, we go Nc3. Bg4 pinning the knight to the Queen, h3 attacking the bishop and then Bh5. Now we play Nxe5, the killer move! If black takes our Queen he is finished! Bxf7+, King e7 is forced and Nd5 is a beautiful checkmate!
Trap in Budapest Gambit
We start with d4, Nf6, c4 and e5, The Budapest Gambit. dxe5 from black and we go Ng4 attacking the pawn. Bf4 defends it and then Nc6, Nf3 from black. Bb4+, Nbd2 is forced and we play Qe7. If they go for a natural move like a3, then we just simply play Ngxe5 and if they take the Bishop then Nd3 is a beautiful smothered checkmate!
Trap in Stafford Gambit
We start with the Stafford Gambit, e4, e5, Nf3, Nf6, Nxe5, Nc6, Nxc6 and dxc6. White plays d3and we go Bc5, Be2 and we play h5. Now, white castles and we play Ng4, attacking the Kingside. White goes h3, attacking the knight and we play Qh4, sacrificing the knight. Now, in this position, if White plays g3, then it is game over. We play Qxg3+,Kh1 from black, which is the forced move and Qh2# is a beautiful checkmate!
Trap in Smith-Morra Gambit
The game starts in the Smith-Morra Gambit, e4, e5, c4,c6 and we go d5. Black plays Qa5+, we go Bd2 and Black retreat his Queen to b6. We play Nc6 and black goes Qxb2, we go Rd1 and Black plays Qa3. We play Nb5, attacking the Queen and threatening a fork and if black gets greedy and takes our pawn on a2, trying to earn our rook , we simply play Ra1 and the Queen has only one safe square that is b2, and then Bc3 is a cunning Queen trap.
Trap in Queen's Gambit Declined
We start the with the QGD( Queen's Gambit Declined) that is d4,d5,c4,e6. White plays Nf3 and we go Nf6. White plays Bg5, attacking the knight and we go Nbd7, defending the knight. White takes the pawn on d5 and we recapture with the pawn on e5. White captures the pawn with his knight and we recapture with our knight, sacrificing our queen. White captures our queen and now the fun part begins! We play Bb4+ , the queen is forced to defend the king and we capture the queen. The white king takes our bishop and we also capture the bishop and just like that we end up end up with an extra piece.
