My chess blog- Why a blog
Following a good season ending in frustration, I am hoping that by putting it in writing, I will be able to correct my mental errorsI started the 2024-2025 season (my 4th competitive season since my return to France, and restarting chess following 10 years of no playing) with an Elo of 1510 and finished the season with an Elo of 1560. The highlights of the season were the Elo gains in November, February, July and September. Especially February (Christmas tournament in Le Mans), July (with a good tournament in Bordeaux in June) and finally September (July tournament in Creon and the French Championship).
The frustration comes from not finishing well in French Championship (category E). Started with 5.5 points after 6 rounds, but made the wrong choice in round 7 and in round 8 was too concerned about defending....Result= instead of playing for the victory of the category, I was stuck trying to finish in the top 20....This is the 2nd time that I waste an opportunity to finish in the top 3.....Back in December 2024, at Le Mans, I had to simply win the last round to finish with a prize....
Anyway, I am hoping that by writing my thoughts and frustrations, it will help me correct my mental errors and move to the next level of my chess playing
