Connect your ordinary board to lichess.org

Software Development
You can connect your electronic board to lichess.org via the easy to use mobile app that comes with it. But what if you don’t have one?

Electronic boards are a great piece of hardware, no doubt, but they can be expensive, and they are unavailable at the moment for my location. For these reasons, I wanted to use my ordinary board like an electronic one and created open source software for this very purpose.

The software utilizes a webcam to track moves made on a physical board. You will first need to calibrate the program by pointing the webcam at an empty board. Once calibrated, it will recognize your moves on the physical board and make them using Lichess Board API. See the demo video created by Sergei Kolupajev:
Playing a game on Lichess.org, using lichess-with-a-real-board software, created by Alper Karayaman.
Although there exist similar software which can track moves made on a physical board, this is the only one which is free, open source and something you can try without a programming background.
