HOW TO WIN IN ATOMIC?

Before anything, ask yourself what the ATOMIC variant is and what are its rules?

ATOMIC is a lichess.org variant of the many that exist, but what are its rules?

ATOMIC RULES

  1. When a piece is captured, it causes an explosion. All pieces (except pawns) adjacent to the captured piece (on any side, diagonal or in the same row or column) are removed from the board.

  2. Pieces cannot cause an explosion if this eliminates their own king.

  3. A piece cannot cause an explosion if it reveals another enemy piece that endangers its king.

  4. Even if the king is in check, another piece of the same color can cause an explosion that destroys the enemy king immediately.

  5. Checkmate is also legal in atomic.

  6. Drowning can also occur.

  7. The kings can be put together since unlike the standard or normal variant, a king cannot capture another king (it seems crazy but that is how the atomic variant works), the pieces cannot make any explosion near the two kings (see rule number 2).

  8. Castling can also be done in the atomic variant and these can also save you if there is a king close to another (see rule number 2).

  9. When a capture is made in passing (which can also be done in atomic by the way) an explosion is made (see rule number 1) and if you know how to take advantage of this rule you could eliminate the enemy king.
