IC2022 has chess as its pilot event on the Lichess platform.
This is only for Indian citizens but from across the globe.
A tournament will be held each month for each category and points will be awarded for wins and draws. Teams have been created on Lichess. Each Team is for a particular category. Under-11, Under-18 and OPEN. The games will be played in the swiss format 10 minute games with no increment (10+0). Five rounds will be played each day over two days. The ease of use provided by Lichess is second to none.
At the end of the year all the points from all the months earned by a participant will be aggregated to determine the Champion of India 2022 (the participant with the highest points in the year across all months in 2022). In case of any tie, a tiebreaker will be organized.
The Champion of India 2022 in each category will win grand cash prizes:
(in addition to amounts won every month)
- Grand Prize: Rs. 25,000
- Runner up: Rs. 15,000
- Third place: Rs. 10,000
Total Champion Purse: Rs. 150,000
We look forward to extending and further enhancing our usage of the Lichess platform for an All India tourney with large numbers of participants.
