How to relax your chess-obsessed poodle
It is well known that many poodles love chess, but sometimes it might go a bit too far..Has your poodle lost interest in walks?
Less motivated by food scraps?
Seems a bit less sociable with their fellow poodle companions?
Your poodle has a chess obsession. Not to worry- this blog tells you how to solve this problem, but keep your poodle happy and still a chess lover at the same time.
Poodles are the most likely dogs to get chess-obsessed because they are generally more interested in academic hobbies. If your poodle is a chess lover, they are likely to spend lots of time doing maths equations or science essays also. Chess is also very mathematical/strategic so it makes sense. These are just the places these dogs feel at home.
As I was saying, if your poodle is slightly over doing the chess then the best way for you, as their owner, to help them cut down is to take them out of the house more, away from the screen/chess board. They need fresh air, whether they know it or not. Arrange poodle playdates with other poodles, do some baking, perhaps teach them a musical instrument- the list is endless. Anyway, do this with them for about a week without letting them play chess at all (I know this sounds harsh, but it is for the best), I think you will find they enjoy the break, and after the week you let them do what they want. If you notice that your poodle reverts back to their original ways, try repeating this procedure for a longer period of time.
Maybe, you should think about setting time limits for how long they can play.
