Everything Is A Point
Every moment of your life; every loss, every achievement; is a point. You win some, you lose some. It's important to understand that in chess you won't always win your games, or always win a tournament. If you make a blunder which changes the whole game and causes you to lose, often the reactions are of sorrow and disappointment.
Feeling all kinds of emotions is crucial in life. One cannot always be joyful or delighted, but then again one cannot always be sorrowful and angry. When you make a mistake, you should learn from it. You should analyze your game, and try to understand what were the better moves. Then, why did you play the blunder? Calmly think; was it because you played fast and didn't think enough, was it because you didn't see the whole board, was it because you miscalculated or undercalculated? Then make a mental note and remember to not repeat that mistake again.
You won't always win your games, or always win a tournament.
If you don't win a game point, its fine. Its a point, so you shouldn't brood over it too long, and instead focus on winning the next one. I'm not saying that you shouldn't care about that lost point, that lost game, that lost tournament...all I'm saying is that you shouldn't cry over spilt milk for a long period of time. I suggest this because when you contemplate viciously about your loss, your brain overloads and you are unable to think straight. You may repeat the same mistakes, or lose the other games, all because you didn't balance your feelings.
The great Roger Federer is an inspiration to me, and this is what he had to say - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ILk8Yai3Wo
If my words are complex, or too simple, then listen to him instead.
When you contemplate viciously about your loss, your brain overloads and you are unable to think straight.

P.S. This blog has been inspired by Roger Federer's speech on "You Won't Win Every Point, Keep Moving Forward".
P.P.S. I know this blog is short, hoping to write a longer one next time. Suggest ideas in the comments!!
