Ways to avoid the tilt state

ChessOff topicOver the board
I'm Andrew. I went up from 1400 to 1950 on Lichess and sharing my experience with you.

Tilt is a poker term for a state of mental or emotional confusion or frustration in which a player adopts a less than optimal strategy, usually resulting in the player becoming overly-aggressive.

In simple words, if you lose 5 games in a row, you feel so much anger, and lose next one game.

Here I try to describe some tricks, which help you get out of this state.

The tilt problem is your focus on the bad!

Get distracted by a walk outside

Just 5-10 min, and something will switch in your head, and you will become calmer.

Nature

Try to eat something sweet

It works very cool. I like to eat bananas.
When you eat sweets, Dopamine is released in the brain, and you feel joyful.
After that, you feel a little better and you can continue playing more calmly.

Sweet

Give energy out, if necessary, beat a pear, squeeze out of the floor

Exercise allows the body to start new processes and thus distract you.

Your main weapon is understanding the problem

Try to look after yourself at all times. Chess is a very fair game. And believe me, in 90% of cases, you are to blame for the loss, not your opponent.
And if the problem is in your emotional state, try to solve it as soon as possible so as not to worsen the results.

Take a day off

Many TOP chess players say: "If you have already lost 5 games in a row, then apparently do not play today. Solve chess problems, go in for sports, read books, but do not play. Perhaps today is simply not your day."

These are very simple ways, but I hope they help you deal with the tilt state.

And thank you :)
