Leela Chess Zero traps Stockfish in the King’s Indian Defense, Simagin variation
The Top Chess Engine Championship Superfinal produces super gamesFeatured is game 71 between Leela Chess Zero and Stockfish from the Top Chess Engine Championship, Season 21's Superfinal match of 100 games. Leela Chess Zero's rating is 3623 and Stockfish's is 3639. The opening is a King's Indian Defense, Simagin variation. I was curious enough about many of this game's alternative human-like moves that it kept my attention for nearly 10 hours. Stockfish's pressure on c4 gave great direction to Leela Chess Zero's play. After some preparation, Stockfish executed a tactical sequence on the queenside. Leela reacted with a deep trap that allowed Stockfish to remain a pawn up, while essentially being a rook down!
