Fourth in Memorial Emilio Pellicer

Was a strong tournament, i start the 10th of the ranking but i went into the tournament with big hopes of win the 600€ who was for the first prize.

Normal Beginning

In the first round my opponent was not a genius and i beat him more less easy cause he sacrifice the g and h pawns in the french but with the center close who means that black have no counterplay for the pawns and i just need to push my h pawn until promote. R1 YT Analysis

The second round was harder, i face a Uzbekistan player of only 1500 rating but with a good level and after a long fight in the london i manage to made a blockade with the rook to promote my pawn first. R2 YT Analysis

The Fight Start

After 2 low rated opponents in the third round i up to the board 1 to face the first of the ranking the Ukraine IM Vladyslav Larkin, i draw against him 2 years ago in Canarias and this day was no different with a fast threefold repetition in a carokan who a didn’t find how to create some advantage. Bye Bye Win Options

I repeat with white pieces to face the GM Plaskett, the game was develop more less equal maybe in some moments he had the advantage but when i finally had reach a good position i blunder a central pawn with check to be completely loosing and this game ended my options of win the tournament but at least i still having podium options if i won the last 3 round. The Comeback

Ok now after 1 draw and 1 lost the counts are simply, i just should won the last 3 games to had a good final position and earn some money.
My opponent in the fifth round is a kid with a low rating but he plays well. This was maybe my best game in the tournament playing a spanish that i not use to employ but i understood well the position being so focus and using his time to think and play fast, finally he blunder everything in the time troubles and a difficult position. The sixth was good too, i don’t like the position that i reach in one moment after d4 but when he takes on e5 i start to feel that i have the advantage i won a good game. R6 YT Analysis

In the last round i had good options of finish in a good position and i faced an italian IM who cames with a Chigorin with Nd7, my exgirlfriend use to play this line but she never wants to play chess against me so i had no much experience here but i of course know the typical plans.
I played so bad the game placing horrible the pieces to reach a drawing rook endgame with a pawn down but to easy to draw and i start to play many bad moves to finally reach a losing position
and in the moment God came to save me and my opponent in a little bit nervous moment have lost on time. Last Round YT Analysis

I finish with 5.5/7 in the fourt position tied with the third earning 20 rating points 180€ and more experience and games to analize, apart benidorm is a nice place. all the years i played there when i was younger i hope return to play there some day.
