BCA Clash of Samurai - 2025

Tournament Format

The BCA Clash of Samurai - 2025 will be played in 2 phases.

1. GROUP STAGE

• All participants will be placed into 8 groups (Random + Strength).
• Each player will play 1 game (10+2) with all other members of their group (4 games in total).
• Scoring: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 point for a loss.
• The top 2 players in each group (16 in total) progress to the knockout stages.
• Tiebreaks: If 2 players score the same points, the player who won their group game progresses. In the event that their game ended in a draw, the player with the most wins progresses. If they also have the same number of wins, they play 2 games of 3+2 to break the tie.

2. KNOCKOUTS

• Each player will be required to play 2 games (10+5) with their opponent.
• Scoring: 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw
• Tie-breaks: If both games result in a tie (2-2), the players would be required to play 2 games (3+2) to break the tie. If that also results in a tie, they play 2 games (2+1)

THE GRAND FINALE (+3rd Place Match)

• The grand final of the tournament and 3rd place match would be decided by 2 games of 10+5 scoring 2 points each and 2 games of 3+2 scoring 1 point each.
• In the event of a tie (3-3), 2 games of 3+1 will be played. If that also results in a tie, they play 2 games (2+1)

Participation

All members of the BCA Community are eligible to participate
Players are required to use a single Lichess.org account for all BCA tournaments.

Prizes

• Cash Prizes are in Ghana cedis (GHS) and will be paid using Mobile Money transfer.
• Payments will be processed within 3 business days after the tournament to ensure all fair play checks.
• Prize winners will be published via Lichess.org using the BrilliancyChess blog.

• 1st: GHS 300 + 1 month Lichess Patron Wings
• 2nd: GHS 165 + 1 month Lichess Patron Wings
• 3rd: GHS 120 + 1 month Lichess Patron Wings
• 4th: GHS 100
• 5th: GHS 70
• 6th: GHS 70
• 7th: GHS 70
• 8th: GHS 70

Tournament Schedule

Fair Play

• Participants are to adhere strictly to the lichess.org terms and conditions
• Any form of cheating, including but not limited to computer assistance, external help, or sandbagging, will result in an immediate disqualification and a potential 6 month ban from future BCA events.

Appeals

• All concerns regarding the tournament, should be relayed promptly to the tournament organizers via the designated channels.
• Decisions made by the tournament organizers regarding such cases will be final.

Updates

BCA reserves the right to modify or update tournament regulations, format, or any other aspects pertaining to the event. Participants will be duly informed of any changes.
