ChessChess PersonalitiesStrategyAnalysis
Welcome to chess Classics!

Mikhail Tal

Mikhail Tal, known as the "Magician from Riga," was a Soviet Latvian chess prodigy and former World Chess Champion. Renowned for his daring and aggressive style, Tal revolutionized chess with his tactics and bold sacrifices. His creativity on the board made him one of the most captivating players in history. Today, we'll explore some games Mikhail Tal.

Try to see these games by seeing from White side and try to guess every white's move and then check with the answer. This would be more useful to improve and remember these games forever.

In the Opening, Tal gives a pawn for his development. Tal bravely gave up a pawn to get a good tempo, developed all his pieces while Black was just moving his Queen. 13.Qd6!! Tal spotted the Best move... which made him win the game comfortably.

Game 3

In this game, again we see that black was a little greedy and took the pawn, which gave white a winning advantage. And Tal clearly spots it to get advantage, and plays a fearless game to win.

Conclusion

In these 3 games, one common thing was.. Tal was playing good openings and waits for the right time to start the attack. Also, he was never focusing on the materials which is a key point to note. While playing dynamically, we should not care for a pawn or a piece (Depending on the position) and try to calculate clearly.

  • Never be greedy to take a free pawn before finishing your Development.
  • Dont be scared to give a piece like pawn to get some tempo.
  • Play fearlessly.
