A tutorial on how to play on Lichess using your own board

Hello. I'm back with another update for ChessCam, the free website/app that digitizes your chess games.

Recently I've been working on a feature where you can play a game on Lichess using your own board. Check it out in the following video.

Giving it a try

Board/Camera setup

  1. Setup your chess board.
  2. Mount your webcam/phone so that it can see all 4 corners of the board.

ChessCam setup

  1. Go to www.chesscam.net.
  2. Login using your Lichess account.
  3. Go to "/play".
  4. Align the corners.
  5. Click the play button.

Lichess Setup

  1. At the top-right of Lichess click Username > Sound > Speech so that Lichess will call out the moves as they are played.
  2. Go to Lichess and start a game against a bot.
  3. Start playing.

If you are successful against a bot, you can try playing a game against a human opponent. At the moment you cannot play Blitz or Bullet using the API, unless you issue a direct challenge.

If you have any problems/suggestions/ideas please message me on Lichess.

Let me know in the comments if you manage to defeat someone using the ChessCam "/play" feature! :)
