KCF University Cup Returns for Fifth Year

The Kasparov Chess Foundation (KCF) is pleased to announce the Fifth Annual KCF University Cup. This online tournament offers university chess teams the chance to compete for a unique prize: a training session with the legendary Garry Kasparov himself!

  • Format: The tournament will be held online on the Lichess platform on February 1-2, 2025.
  • Eligibility: Open to teams from all accredited post-secondary schools.
  • Prizes: The winning teams of the open and U2200 sections will receive an exclusive online training session with Garry Kasparov. All sections will be eligible for other awards.
  • Registration: Registration closes 24 hours before Round 1.

Commentary
The KCF University Cup isn't just about competition; it's about learning and development. This year's event will feature live commentary by International Master Kostya Kavutskiy and former US Women's Champion WGM Sabina Foisor. Round 6 will feature guest commentary from Garry Kasparov.

Several sections are offered. Open, U2200, U2000, U1800, U1600.
There is no entry fee.
Note: The open section has an average rating limit of 2400.
